How ISR Lessons Work

Safe. Customized. Confidence-building.

At ISR Kentucky, every lesson is one-on-one — just your child and the instructor in the water.
Each session is tailored to your child’s unique needs, development, and comfort level.

ISR lessons are designed to be:

  • Safe: Taught by certified instructors trained to monitor each child’s readiness and well-being.

  • Effective: Focused on mastering real survival skills, not just playtime or splashing.

  • Confidence-building: Children gain true competence first, which naturally leads to confidence and lifelong respect for the water.

INDIVIDUALIZED LESSONS

LESSON STRUCTURE

  • 4 days per week: Monday through Thursday

  • 10 minutes per day: Short, focused lessons keep little ones engaged and safe

  • Average program length: 5–7 weeks (may vary by child)

  • Age range: Beginning at 6 months old through 6+ years

Older children who are eager to learn are always welcome!

OUR PROGRAMS

1

ROLLBACK TO FLOAT

(6-18 MONTHS OLD)

Even our youngest swimmers can learn to roll onto their backs, float, rest, and breathe independently.
Infants and toddlers who aren’t yet walking will practice maintaining a safe floating position until help arrives.
This foundational skill builds both confidence and calm — essential for true water safety.

2

Swim-Float-Swim

(16 Months+)

Refresher lessons fine-tune existing ISR skills and help children adjust as their bodies grow.
These shorter sessions strengthen their float and swim abilities, reinforce muscle memory, and renew confidence for the new season.

Most returning Swim-Float-Swim students complete refreshers in approximately three weeks.

3

REFRESHER

As children become more mobile and coordinated, they’re ready to add swimming skills to their safety foundation.
The Swim-Float-Swim sequence teaches children to:

  1. Swim a short distance

  2. Roll onto their back to rest and breathe

  3. Return to a swimming position and continue to safety

This self-rescue technique helps children navigate real-life water situations with confidence and control.
