Why Choose ISR?
Life-saving lessons. Gentle guidance. Confidence that lasts a lifetime.
Why ISR?
Founded in 1966, Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) is nationally recognized as the safest provider of survival swimming lessons for infants and young children.
ISR’s Self-Rescue™ program teaches little ones how to roll onto their backs, float, and breathe — vital skills that could save their lives if they ever reach the water alone.
At ISR Kentucky, your child’s safety is always our top priority. Every lesson is personalized to your child’s age, ability, and comfort level, with continuous monitoring of their progress and well-being.
What Makes ISR Different
Traditional swim lessons focus on strokes and kicking. ISR goes deeper — teaching survival first, swimming second.
Each child learns how to navigate real-life water situations, not just pool play. For more than five decades, ISR has empowered children and families with proven self-rescue skills built on safety, trust, and consistency.
Individualized Lessons
Every child learns at their own pace. Instructors gently guide each swimmer through skill levels based on readiness and development.
Safety First
Before lessons begin, a team of medical professionals reviews each child’s health history to ensure every session is safe and appropriate.Parent Involvement
Parents are part of the process. You’ll learn important water-safety tips and how to support your child’s progress at home.Real Results
By the end of lessons, children can confidently demonstrate their age-appropriate survival sequence — either a rollback-to-float (for infants) or swim-float-swim (for older toddlers).
Our Approach
Why It Matters
Drowning remains one of the leading causes of accidental death in young children. ISR lessons provide peace of mind — teaching infants and toddlers the skills to survive and the confidence to enjoy the water safely.
Enrolling your child in ISR is an investment in safety, confidence, and lifelong respect for the water.
Instructor Training
When it comes to your child’s safety, qualifications matter. Every Certified ISR Instructor completes a rigorous, 8-week training program that includes:
A minimum of 80 hours of supervised, in-water instruction
Academic coursework in child psychology, physiology, and behavioral science
Hands-on training with a Certified Master Instructor
Annual recertification to uphold ISR’s strict safety and teaching standards
ISR Instructors are carefully screened, continually evaluated, and deeply committed to providing compassionate, safe instruction for every child.
“Drowning is preventable. Survival swim lessons are one of the most effective layers of protection you can give your child.”
